Truck 8 Fill-In at Christiana Print E-mail

At 6 a.m. on Saturday, September 15th, Truck Company 8 loaded up with 6 personnel and headed north to New Castle County (Delaware) Station 12 (Christiana) for a day-long standby. Christiana units were traveling to Dover to attend their Annual Delaware State Firemen's Convention. Engine 7 from Water Witch (Port Deposit) also made the trip to serve as the fill-in wagon for the day. Upon arrival, both crews made contact with Christiana personnel to obtain map books and radios. One of the Station 12 Chiefs held a brief staff meeting over coffee, bagels, and Dunkin Donuts to familiarize the Cecil County guests with running assignments and procedures. Both crews spent the remainder of the morning talking shop and eyeballing Christiana's station.

Two and Two: Elkton and Oxford Print E-mail

In the early morning hours of both Monday, September 10th and Tuesday, September 11th, CFCRS fought working house fires in Elkton (Singerly) and Oxford (Chester County, PA).

Just after midnight on September 10th, CFCRS was alerted for the engine transfer to Station 13 (Singerly). Singerly and other surrounding companies were reportedly battling a fully involved vacant one story single family dwelling at Blue Ball and Dogwood Roads. Engine 813 marked up with 5 personnel and made the trip southeast from Station 8. E813 cleared Station 13 after approximately 1 hour and returned to quarters.

Station 8 Starts Rec Room Rehab Print E-mail

Just prior to the Monthly Company Meeting on Monday, August 6th, members flexed their muscles and removed the old pool table from the Station 8 Rec Room. The move is the culmination of several months of research done by the membership beginning an effort to improve our staffing facilities at our Biggs Highway Station. The Board of Directors saw fit to authorize a Rec Room Committee to oversee the improvements.

812 takes 403 Box Print E-mail

On the afternoon of July 28th, Engine 812 (with 5 personnel) marked up for the working House Trailer Fire in the 403 Box (North East) in the 100 block of Nazarene Camp Road. Initial reports advised someone was trapped in the burning structure. As North East units arrived to a working fire, two firefighters were injured when an exterior landing and stairs collapsed.

Sparky Pays A Visit Print E-mail
On June 28th, CFCRS conducted just one of many Fire Prevention details handled throughout the year.  Engine 812 (with 4 personnel) visited the Rising Sun Boys and Girls Club.  During a brief visit with approximately 30 children, Fire personnel reviewed:
 
- Fire hazards in the home
- Stop, Drop, and Roll
- Smoke detectors
